Interview with a graduate student - Jean-Daniel Veer

I received the Cardinal Maurice-Roy scholarship for the master’s programme. I am 26 and have been married to Sarah Jessica for a year and a half. For the past three years we have attended La Chapelle Church and have been active there. Before entering the master’s programme, I studied at the University of Montreal, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy.

After this brief introduction, I would like to thank ETEQ and honour the dedication it has towards its students, I being one of them. ETEQ is a family which supports and encourages its own. To be perfectly honest, what attracted me to ETEQ was its academic side. ETEQ has qualified teachers who long for us to grow in our theological understanding and reflection. I am very grateful to them.

As for my dissertation, without going into too much detail, I am interested in the theological heritage of Martin Luther. My readings have led me to discover his theology of the cross, a theme I hope to study in light of the Quebecois culture as well as other authors of the last century that claim to be, like him, theologians of the cross. I have the pleasure and privilege of undertaking this research under the banner of ETEQ and Laval University. Thank you for your prayers and the support you give to ETEQ, which, as a student, I benefit from.
