Minor in Pastoral Studies-UL

Orilson Désulmé
Orilson loves the Lord. While still in Haiti, he contacted ETEQ about the possibility of taking a Certificate in Pastoral Studies. As soon as he arrived in Montreal, he began his studies and completed them with flying colours. Ever filled with the desire to learn more about God’s Word, Orilson plans to pursue his studies in September towards a Bachelor’s degree and then to go on to the Master’s level.

Emmanuel Orozco-Rubio
Emmanuel took up studies with us on a part-time basis in order to better understand the Bible. He took courses towards a Certificate in Pastoral Studies. He has an evangelist’s heart and hopes to serve God in various fields, including “Christian Rap.” His theological studies will also help him support his parents in their pastoral ministry.

Joël Marchand
Curiosity, insight and openness of mind are three words that accurately characterize Joël. Convinced that it is worthwhile for all Christians to invest one year of their life to gain a good theological grounding, Joel is an example of a young adult who wants to serve God regardless of the career he may pursue. In his case, it is his interests in the scientific realm that will no doubt bring him to contemplate God the Creator. Joel displays a humble and helpful spirit both in his local church and in the short-term international missions in which he loves to participate.

Merline Numa Rosalva
If you could meet Merline, you would find her warm, cheerful and generous. You can tell she loves God and the people around her. After participating in the 19–24 Experience in 2013–2014, Merline returned to ETEQ in the winter of 2018 to complete her final class towards a Certificate in Pastoral Studies. Equipped with a solid theological foundation, Merline has just finished her studies in linguistics and continues to serve God among the youth in her church.

Hélène Lapointe
Hélène is passionate about the Scriptures and evangelism. She is always in “learning mode” and thoroughly enjoys gathering with others to study the biblical text, be they people from her Plymouth Brethren Church or other students on the Laval University campus where she works. More recently, she has developed a heart for Spanish speakers. In fact, she completed her certificate with a 3-credit assignement in a Spanish-speaking faith community in Quebec City. Hélène’s studies with us were made possible by the decision made by ETEQ to open a centre in Quebec City.

Bachelor's degree-UL

Malekasa Oboo
Nothing could stop Malekasa from completing his Bachelor’s in Theology! He faced and overcame all kinds of challenges, including the distance between Sherbrooke and Montreal. He had the wisdom to equip himself with biblical and theological knowledge so that he could more effectively pursue his calling to fight social injustice and its resulting poverty. A man of action, our brother was enriched by the time spent at ETEQ and we were enriched by him.

Nicolas Morin
Nicolas has a passionate love for theology. He started his training at ETEQ by taking the Introduction to Theological studies mini-programme and went on to study for a Bachelor’s in Theology. Nicolas loves apologetics. He is always keen for a lively theological discussion. Passionate for Evangelism, together with some fellow students, he started “Skate Board Church” where he evangelizes those who are somewhat marginalized. He is also dedicated to making Jesus known to those who have already heard about Him but whom, for one reason or another, no longer attend Church. He hopes to pursue studies at the Master’s level.

Myleen Bravo
Myleen wanted to be active in God’s work and involved in ministry among disadvantaged women in a poor neighbourhood of Montreal and also among women from around the world. It was her passion for local missions and women’s ministry that led her to undertake a Bachelor’s in Theological Studies at l’ETEQ. Throughout her studies, Myleen has felt led to be an agent of transformation among women and she has been developing her skills in this direction. Myleen will pursue graduate studies in the fall of 2018.

Master of Arts - theologie-UL (In their own words)

Jean-Daniel Veer
I attend la Chapelle Church which is part of ACF (Christian Association for French speakers). I serve mainly in the communications department as editor and advisor as well as giving computer technology support. I love ETEQ for its academic quality, for the wisdom of its professors as well as the freedom I was given to write at the various stages of my dissertation. After my studies, I hope to carry on being an agent of change from the inside and to continue to put forward a commitment towards the world both by addressing issues and by responding with the Good News—the answer to all the bad news around us.

Christian Kelly Andriamitantsoa
I am a member of the French-speaking Madagascar Lutheran Community in Montreal, which consists of two churches located at 3594 Jeanne Mance in the Prince Arthur neighbourhood and 865 Jarry Est in the Outremont neighbourhood. I feel that the studies I undertook at ETEQ, with its outstanding faculty and students that come from many countries, has allowed me to further develop my responsibilities as a pastoral candidate. I will also be able to put into practice the expertise I acquired in these two communities to prepare the Malagasy Church in Quebec to hold worship services in French.

Danielle Lajeunesse
I volunteer as a coordinator at the Église chrétienne évangélique de Saint-Eustache and am also involved in a food distribution programme for needy families as well as a community garden next to the Church. I work for the Association des Églises des frères mennonites du Québec (AEFMQ) (Association of Mennonite Brethren churches in Quebec) and I hope to organise continuing education in partnership with ETEQ and CEAM (Centre d’études anabaptistes de Montréal). I also serve as Chief Editor for the magazine LE LIEN. My time at ETEQ has allowed me to appreciate the expertise of the teaching staff and their heart for the advancement of the Kingdom of God here and now. I feel more confident as I coordinate small groups at my Church, innovating with “sharing, healing and spiritual renewal” groups and also preach the Word at St-Eustache and in sister Churches.
