A Word from our Academic Dean - Jean Martin, Ph.D.

Recently, someone asked me what I was the most proud of having contributed to theological education since 1983 (please do not try to calculate my age!).  The question caught me off guard but also inspired me to take a closer look at what and how, and especially why, I still do what I do, here in my native Quebec. I will not attempt to answer the question here, but rather simply point you to lives that have been changed, passions that have been nourished, calls that have been confirmed and minds that have been enlightened and sharpened. For ETEQ, it is all about providing the opportunity to Jesus followers in Quebec to be well-equipped in their own language (en français) and to be able to say «yes» to the God who invites them to lead and serve the Church here. Right along with an evangelical theological education in French, is the importance of educational excellence. That is more demanding than simply delivering classes in French! One of the ways ETEQ pushes itself towards educational excellence is through our partnership with Université Laval which makes it possible for all our 2018 graduates to get their diplomas and degrees from that highly reputable institution.

Our greatest sense of accomplishment resides in our eleven 2018 graduates, including our first-ever M.A. Theology cohort.  These three early-starters have led the charge and we expect already double that number of graduates in 2019. Of our three Bachelor of Theology graduates, two already plan to continue with Masters studies.  Finally, the six graduates of our entry, undergraduate Minor in Pastoral Studies will be combining this accomplishment with further education in fields as varied as Theology, Physics, Languages and Teaching.

I am so thankful to God for letting me, our professors, our support staff and our team of donors be partners in the preparation of these seven men and four women for the cause of the Kingdom.

We would love for you to join us on April 27, 2019 for our next graduation weekend. At the same time, visit the Quebec Church, the Quebec people and the beautiful Quebec landscape.
